Below are the workshops planned for Round II of A Community Toolbox to Fight Meth on Oct. 13.
 

“Listen to those who have been there”
Former meth users talk about what it is like to be addicted, go through treatment, and struggle with sobriety. An addiction counselor will discuss treatment. Learn to recognize possible warning signs that someone you know is using meth. 

“Introduction to Meth”
What is this drug? Where does it come from? How is it used? What are the dangers of making it and the problem of cleaning it up? Find out the basics you need to know about meth.  

 “Meth, it is in Your Backyard”
Think the sale or use of meth can’t happen in your neighborhood? Think again. Learn about meth trafficking in our community, how law enforcement track neighborhood meth activity and how state laws affect meth manufacturing. 

“Truth or Dare- What Youth need to know about the lies of Meth” 
Just how many young people are trying or using meth. What are the effects of meth on a young person? What if it is my child? Learn what you can do if a friend or child starts using meth. 

“Stories from the Front Line”
How does meth impact children and families in the community? Listen to those who work the on front line in aftermath of meth. Child protection workers, addiction counselors and law enforcement will share their experiences fighting meth.

Special Guest Charisse Strawberry at 8 p.m.
Charisse Strawberry, the wife of former NY Yankee Darryl Strawberry, is the President of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Tampa Bay.  She is American’s leading advocate for families and friends of those suffering from alcoholism and other drug addictions.
